On the last Monday of the month we recite the Five Mindfulness Trainings in place of Dharma Reading.
What to Expect
Peaceful Heart Sangha is facilitated by Charles Fantz. In August 2011 he encountered Thich Nhat Hanh at a retreat and decided to pursue the study and practice of Mindfulness Meditation. This is a relaxed and delightful practice, focused on bringing mindfulness to every moment, peace to all and rooted in loving kindness. He began practicing with HCML in Kansas City. He was mentored and received compassionate support and guidance through Bethany and David Klug of HCML in Kansas City, and Joanne Friday, a seasoned Dharma teacher from Rhode Island. He was ordained into the Order of Interbeing in 2015 and started the Sangha in Topeka Kansas in December 2015 to share the practice of Mindfulness Meditation. His co-leader, Judy Sasser, was also a practitioner of Mindfulness Meditation and they both were involved in the Deep Listening Sangha in Lawrence Kansas founded by Nomi Redding .
The Sangha originally met on Wednesday evenings at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Topeka. This came to a halt in March 2020 when the pandemic made that unsafe. At the end of the summer, thanks to Michael Smith, we went online using Zoom.
